Aerosol and bulk brake cleaner can remove oil, grease, brake dust, and workshop contamination from compatible parts, but they do not provide the same cleaning process.

Aerosol is usually the simplest choice when technicians clean relatively small areas at the vehicle.
The trade-off is more individual packaging and potentially higher fluid cost per unit volume. Poor spray technique can also create unnecessary mist and overspray.
Bulk solvent can make sense when a workshop repeatedly performs the same solvent-spray cleaning at enough volume to justify compatible dispensing equipment.

Depending on the system, a washer may provide controlled flow, brushing, filtration, or fluid recirculation. That can be efficient for heavily soiled removed parts that would otherwise consume many aerosol cans.
However, a washer fluid may use completely different chemistry from an aerosol brake cleaner. Water-based systems can have different working time, rinsing, drying, corrosion, and material-compatibility requirements.
A practical shop can use a hybrid model: aerosol for targeted vehicle-side service and a dedicated washer for removed components. The two processes do not need to use the same cleaner.
